Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You

Valokuvauksen myötä olen uudestaan astunut värien maailmaan. Olen vaikuttunut kauneuden äärellä, jonka kamera pystyy tallentamaan usein vain osittain.

By photographing I have stepped once more to the world of colours. I have impressed by the beauty around me, the beauty which a camera may only partially save.

untitled-3947

At least once a week I will write both in English and in Finnish. Let me explain why this kind of change of course. – Kerran viikossa kirjoitan sekä suomeksi että englanniksi. Selitän, miksi tällainen kurssinmuutos.

An example of the WordPress blogger called Elämän Katupeili http://pilvipouta.wordpress.com encouraged me to take part the challenge called Photo Challence given by http://dailypost.wordpress.com. This is why I will write, once a week, about the matter given Photo Challenge both in English and Finnish. At the same time my story will deal with my own theme, the and spiritual life in a form or another. I hope this offer also my readers a bit different angle.

WordPress -bloggerin, Taikakivi, http://pilvipouta.wordpress.com esimerkin rohkaisemana tartuin haasteeseen nimeltä Photo Challenge http://dailypost.wordpress.com. Tämän vuoksi kerran viikossa kirjoitan annetusta aiheesta suomeksi ja englanniksi. Tarinaani sisällytän ”oman” teemani, hengellisen elämän ja uskon, muodossa tai toisessa. Toivon, että näin voin tarjota lukijoilleni hieman erilaisen näkökulman.

This week, the theme is to

”–share a photograph with a prominent color (or assortment of colors) that reveals more about you. It could be a symbolic, meaningful shade; a color that expresses how you currently feel; or a combination of colors that excites you and tells a visual story.”

Tämänkertainen tehtävänanto kehottaa jakamaan kuvan, jossa on väri tai valikoima värejä, jotka kuvaavat jotenkin kuvaajaa. Kuva voi olla vertauskuvallinen, sillä voi olla tarkoitus; se voi kuvata tämänhetkistä olotilaa; väriyhdistelmä voi kiinnostaa tai kertoa tarinan.

Why this photo taken of a bit sorrowfull and naked nature of autumnal Finland? – Miksi kuva hieman surumielisestä ja paljaasta syksyisestä luonnosta Suomessa?

I love colours, different colours – and most of all colours of joy and warmth. – Rakastan värejä, erilaisia värejä – ja ennen muuta rakastan ilon värejä ja lämpimiä värejä.

Many times the spirituality of Finnish people is a bit melancholy one. When spirituality came alive for me, the first and main result was JOY. I stop dressing myself dark colours and stop seem gloomy. It wasn´t because of situations around me but because of joy inside me. I believe, many times, just this inner joy has helped me survive hard times, challenges and some times even horrors of life.

Monesti meidän suomalainen hengellisyytemme on sävyttynyt surumielisesti. Kun hengellisyys alkoi elää minulle, ensimmäinen ja päällimmäinen seuras oli ILO. Lopetin pukeutumisen mustiin enkä enää näyttänyt synkeältä. Tämä ei ollut seurausta ulkonaisista oloista vaan ilosta sisälläni. Uskon, että monesti, juuri sisäinen ilo auttaa selviämään kovista ajoista, haasteista, jopa elämän kauheudesta.

By photographing I have stepped once more to the world of colours. I have impressed by the beauty around me, the beauty which a camera may only partially save.

Valokuvauksen myötä olen uudestaan astunut värien maailmaan. Olen vaikuttunut kauneuden äärellä, jonka kamera pystyy tallentamaan usein vain osittain.

This is like the faith: Many times I only may step in and feel the results.

Tämä on vähän sama niin kuin uskossa: Monesti on otettava vain askel, minkä jälkeen tunnemme seuraukset.

Taken from the mouth of Jesus: ”– If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.2 (John. 7: 37a, 38)

Jeesuksen sanoin: ”Jos jonkun on jano, tulkoon minun luokseni ja juokoon! Joka uskoo minuun, ’hänen sisimmästään kumpuavat elävän veden virrat´” (Joh. 7: 37a, 38)

Barriers which block the Blessing (part 2) – Look where you sow

The article of today is near which I wrote yesterday: If the Word/teaching is out of context, we aren´t able to see results desired.

I shall give a point of view to the fact that some times we can´t to see results because we conclude Word/teaching by wrong way.

Let me give an example: tithes/offers.

Last week I read a short writing of the matter, how one might pay offers/tithe – alltought he/she knew that the receiver is misusing money.

I have wrote the matter also before in Finnish in articles.Mitä kylvat, sitä niitat https://pauliinakuikka.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/mita-kylvat-sita-niitat/ Unfortunately these aren´t available in English, yet.

Anyway, in the article mentioned above, I focus to the fact that mostly original sources speaking of seeding and harvesting didn´t spoke about money, but instead of that, the point was:

1) Sowing the Word
2) The ground to which one sew and quality of the grond (good or poor; selfish or the field of Holy Spirit)
3) Building the Temple of Lord
4) And the fact: A bad tree can´t bear good fruits or a good tree bad fruits.

All af those details are stressing on the ground to which one is sowing. In a good ground the seed sown has possibities to grow as it is planned to do – by effective, good way.

Toward this background we have to seriously ask: Is it pure, good believing heart the only precondition – and it doesn´t matter how one use money given?

We here in Finland are in a happy situation because our Law is rather strict toward gathering money. One can´t use money as he/she wants. The permission to gather money isn´t easy to get.

Anyway, we may think twice before we give/tithe/offer. We have to consider for example, how the pastor/assembly teaches and to what kind of purposes they use money given.

If we invoke to the Bible in offering/tithng/giving money, we may do that by logic way:
1) We have to sow the the fertile ground.
2) We have to sow the the field of Holy Spirit.
3) We have to build up the Temple of Lord/His Kingdom.
4) We have to look for/at fruit, results.

Barriers which block Blessing (part 1) – A Wrong Conclusion

I promised to handle with the item what kind of things are prohibiting to see this word/promises fullfilled.

In this article I shall open a bit a matter of the fact that sometimes we handle word/promises in wrong context.

Yesterday I get a comment including totally opposite word/message than mine. In addition to this also this word/message was in the Bible and in the books of prophets.

The situation is very typical. Even in the Bible we may see opposite perspectives on a matter at hand. Some ones have said that the Bible in itself is a contradictory and dissonant book. Anyway, don´t stare at only the words/message picked up from the context, but instead of that, look at the context and ask: In which situation and whom those words/message(s) are said or written. The context is the key to understand, what actually happened in the scenes and why something happened/was said/was written. Without this kind of contextual touch to the reading we may misunderstand something fundementaly wrong.

The same works in the line between preaching and listening or/and using such gifts of Holy Spirit as prophesying, words of knowledge or wisdom.

I give an example.

If a preacher or writer quote promises of the Bible saying for example ”Lord is saying that He is sending you grain and juice [of the grape] and oil, and you shall be satisfied with them–”

There are people in the assembly which take these promises and start to invoke to those in their own lives.

One of these people is taking the promise as an example of a prosperous believer. He/she is acting as the word would be true. Or even more, he/she is taking (in literal meaning) ”grain, juice and oil” by force. He/she is ”prophesying” to some of their own listeners that they should give money to a ”prophet”: ”Thus says Lord, sow a seed and you will prosper… Lord has spoken to me…” And in some cases he/she are continuing by saying…”If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you will be devoured by the sword. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.” (Comp. Isa 1: 19,20)

You may observe a subtlety in an the Bible and two different preachers: One an another preaching this Word and an another puting the Word to his/her own interests and picking the word up from its context.

It is ok to invoke to the Word of Lord in ones life – but only when one operates in accordance with the preconditions.

If there is misusing of Word of Lord in the scenes there can´t be any kind of blessing including it. The only way to get the results waited is to get the results by force (manipulating people). And there isn´t any kind of blessing including it, too.

When people around this kind of abusive preacher see this kind of bad fruits, they usually take a wrong conclusion: There is something wrong in the Word preached. Usually, there happens also that those people turn themselves to the opposite side of the matter reading texts of wrong prophets and teachings. Of course that is ok – but at the same time that is only opposite side of the matter.

1. There isn´t anything wrong in the Word itself. The mistake takes its place when one put the Word to a wrong context and/or try to manipulate with the Word people around him/her.

2. There isn´t anything wrong with gifts of prophesy/wisdom/knowledge. We will find those out of course if some one says that Lord says something, if Lord doesn´t do so…

And in every case we have to look around the context in which the Word is spoken/written at the first time.

For example in this quotation of Joel we may find deep repentance preceding the blessing of ”grain, juice and oil”. People have put their lives order before, then Lord gave and fulfilled His promise. The blessing didn´t just happen.

In this context the verse ”If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land…” is ok – but instead of that the verse used to manipulate people to do ones own will is out of context.

So we see here even two kind of barriers which keep us out of promises/blessings.

1) Misunderstood Word/teaching. Because we try to put/use Word/teaching out of context, we can´t see results promised.

2) Seeing misused Word/teaching and disappointment after that may cause that we are to refuse this kind of Word/teaching generally speaking.

Once more: Let´s keep Word/teachings in those context, so we may see also results promised and desired.

Revenge from Heaven – Revanssia taivaasta

I shall put My Spirit in you and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land.

Minä panen teihin henkeni, niin että te heräätte eloon, ja vien teidät maahanne. (Hes 37: 14)

The meaning of the word חיה [chayah] translated to ´live´ is colourfull one. It means also ´have life, remain alive, sustain life, live prosperously, live for ever, be quickened (from sickness, discouragement, faintness, death), be alive, be restored to life or health (refresh, restore)´. – Sana, joka suomalaisessa Raamatussa on käännetty ´eloon heräämiseksi´, voidaan kääntää ´omistaa elämä, pysyä elossa, säilyttää elämä, elää menestyksekkäästi, elää ikuisesti, elpyä (sairaudesta, toivottomuudesta, heikkoudesta, kuolemasta), olla elossa, palautua elämään tai terveeksi (virvoitta, palauttaa)..

The word ינח [yanah] traslated to ´place´ means also for example ´to rest; have/cause rest, be quiet; open space´. – Sana, joka on käännetty dynaamisesti ´vien´tarkoittaa ´levätä, omistaa/saada aikaan lepo, olla rauhassa, avoin tila´.

So, we see here a familiar theme, how rich, wide and colourfull life given by Lord actually is. Life given by Lord is literally abundant life, in its whole meaning, as Jesus promised in John 10: 10. – Tässä näämme tutun teeman: Miten rikas, laaja ja värikäs on Herran lahjoittama elämä. Herran lahjoittama elämä on kirjaimellisesti ja sanan koko merkityksess yltäkylläinen, aivan niin kuin Jeesus lupasi (Joh 10: 10)

Used word περισσος [perissos] means ´exceeding some number, measure, rank or need; over and above, more than is necessary, superadded; exceeding abundantly, supremely; something further, more, much more than all, more plainly; superior, extraordinary, surpassing, uncommon; pre-eminence, superiority, advantage, more eminent, more remarkable, more excellent´. – Kohdassa käytetty kreikan sana tarkoittaa ´numerot, mitat, tarpeen  ylittävää; yli ja yläpuolella, enemmän kuin tarpeen, ”ylilisätty”, yltäkylläisen ylittävä, ylenmääräinen; jokin, mikä on enemmän/pidemmällä; enemmän kuin kaikki; huippu, erinomainen, ylittävä, epätavallinen, merkittävämpi, erinomaisempi…´

I add one another verses of the Bible, picked up from Joel 2: 24-26 to the context under discussion- Lisään vielä yhden Raamatun jakeen, Joelin kirjan 2. luvusta, jakeet 24-26.

And the [threshing] floors shall be full of grain and the vats shall overflow with juice [of the grape] and oil.
And I will restore or replace for you the years that the locust has eaten—the hopping locust, the stripping locust, and the crawling locust, My great army which I sent among you.
And you shall eat in plenty and be satisfied and praise the name of the Lord, your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you. And My people shall never be put to shame. –

Silloin puimatantereet ovat täynnä viljaa, ja puristamoissa öljy ja viini tulvivat yli reunojen. Minä hyvitän teille ne vuodet,
jolloin sadon söivät sirkat ja niiden toukat,
vaeltajasirkat ja kalvajasirkat,
tuo suuri sotajoukko,
jonka lähetin teidän kimppuunne. Te saatte syödä ja tulette kylläisiksi,
te ylistätte Herraa, Jumalaanne,
joka on tehnyt ihmeellisiä tekoja
teidän hyväksenne.
Minun kansaani ei enää koskaan pilkata.

Notice, Joel is listing grain, oil and juice (literally ´ wine, fresh or new wine, freshly pressed wine´) filling/overflowing storages and vats. What does this actually mean? These ”fruits of ground” were basic products from which people got their income. We may see here God taking care His people in their daily life, caring daily matters in their lives as well as spiritual ones. – Huomaathan, Joel listaa viljan, ölyn ja viinin (tuoreen, vastapuristetun viinin), täyttämässä ja vuotamassa yli varastoista ja puristamoissa. Mitä tämä merkitsee? Nämämaan hedelmät olivat perustarvikkeita, joista ihmiset saivat elantonsa. Voit nähdä Jumalan pitävän huolta omiensa päivittäisestä elämästä, niin arkisiin asioihin kuin hengellisyyteen liittyen.

The word translated ´restore/replace´ is the verb שלם [shalam], which is in the background of the familiar, much used noun שלום [shalom]. Both of these words include for example meanings – Hyvittämiseksi käännetty sana pohjaa tuttuun sanaan ´rauha´. Molemmilla on sama merkitys

  • to complete, to be complete, finish/ completeness – tehdä täydelliseksi, saada päätökseen
  • be sound/sound
  • to be in a covenant of peace, be at peace, to make peace (with)/ peace – olla rauhan liitossa, olla rauhassa, tehdä rauha
  • to make whole or good, restore, make compensation, recompense – tehdä ehjäksi tai hyväksi, palauttaa, korvata
  • welfare, health, prosperity – hyvinvointi, terveys, menestys

There is written in Isaiah 54: 10:

For though the mountains should depart and the hills be shaken or removed, yet My love and kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace and completeness be removed, says the Lord, Who has compassion on you. – Vaikka vuoret järkkyisivät ja kukkulat horjuisivat, minun rakkauteni sinuun ei järky eikä minun rauhanliittoni horju, sanoo Herra, sinun armahtajasi.

There we may find expression ´covenant of peace and completeness´ and the word שלום [shalom] used as well. – Löydämme kohdasta edellisestä tutun sanan ja ajatuksen rauhanliitosta.

It sounds good, doesn´t it?! – Eikö kuulostakin mahtavalta?!

Manifestation of Lord Almighty

Today I am to continue with the item When we see life in dry places, even taking a deeper sight of the matter asking When do we see the life in dry places?

If you ask me, the key is in the words ”thus says Lord”, ”I will open”, ”I will cause”, ”I will brig” as we may see below:

Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and (I) cause you to come up out of your graves, O My people; and I will bring you[back home] to the land of Israel.

The initiator is Lord. The result is pure manifestation of deeds of Almighty Lord to(ward) His People.

And you shall know that I am the Lord [your Sovereign Ruler], when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, O My people.

Thus Lord says, so happens. His creative words cause life appear. His creative words cause His people be planted to their own Land (planned and given by Lord) – even after days of captivity and exile.

And I shall put My Spirit in you and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land.

Lord has promised. Lord has caused it to happen. All of this is testimony of Lord, trustworthy in His deeds and words.

Then you shall know, understand, and realize that I the Lord have spoken it and performed it, says the Lord.

Tomorrow we shall continue with a little exegesis of the matter What new life actually means.

In this week we are to focus also things which are prohibiting to see this word fullfilled.

When we see life in dry places

Translated from Elamaa siella, missa ei pitaisi published 12th May 2012 by Pauliina Kuikka. – Suomeksi artikkeli löytyy linkistä Elamaa siella, missa ei pitaisi

There have been photos of Sapokka and Katariina in my blog in lastest days. Sapokka and Katariina are parks in Kotka City in Finland. Both Kotka and Sapokka have been/looked like much different before. Sapokka – a spoiled gulf and Katariina an oil harbour out of use. Both of those are also admirable examples of good and succesfull deeds of human beings when they decide to do something good and usefull.

Anyway, the testimony of the Bible is:

Lord may do more…

Lord may do more abundantly and far over than we may think. Possibilities of Lord exceed boundaries of comprehension. We call that a miracle.

In the following days I will focus to two of this kind of mircles. The first of these miracles is well known story about dry bones getting new, refreshing life in Ez. 37: 1-14 (Ampl.):

The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.
And He caused me to pass round about among them, and behold, there were very many [human bones] in the open valley or plain, and behold, they were very dry.
And He said to me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, You know!
Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O you dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.
Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath and spirit to enter you, and you shall live;
And I will lay sinews upon you and bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin, and I will put breath and spirit in you, and you [dry bones] shall live; and you shall know, understand, and realize that I am the Lord [the Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service].
So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a [thundering] noise and behold, a shaking and trembling and a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
And I looked and behold, there were sinews upon [the bones] and flesh came upon them and skin covered them over, but there was no breath or spirit in them.
Then said He to me, Prophesy to the breath and spirit, son of man, and say to the breath and spirit, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath and spirit, and breathe upon these slain that they may live.
So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath and spirit came into [the bones], and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceedingly great host.
Then He said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried up and our hope is lost; we are completely cut off.
Therefore prophesy and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, O My people; and I will bring you [back home] to the land of Israel.
And you shall know that I am the Lord [your Sovereign Ruler], when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, O My people.
And I shall put My Spirit in you and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land. Then you shall know, understand, and realize that I the Lord have spoken it and performed it, says the Lord.

Thus says the prophet?

I have met teachings of prophecying/ proclaiming, lost direction, with these results (confusion, counterfeit, etc.). According to these teachings we have to prophecy/proclaim and Lord do as we prophecy/proclaim. One argument for these teachings is verses of Ezekiel written above. Truly we can´t find that kind of argument in Ezekiel but, instead of that, we discover a thought in which we wake up to find that a prophet/preacher speak and do as Lord says (or command him/her to do). An initiatior is Lord (also) in this miracle. A human being speaks words of Lord, not his/her own, in/to situation. [Lord/ He says]. It is not a question of proclaming/prophecying by a human being, but the question is ”Thus says Lord”.

So I prophesied as I was commanded

  • and the result interrelated to one another.

and as I prophesied, there was a [thundering] noise and behold, a shaking and trembling and a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone.
And I looked and behold, there were sinews upon [the bones] and flesh came upon them and skin covered them over — and the breath and spirit came into [the bones], and they lived and stood up upon their feet, an exceedingly great host.

When selfguiding is not wort the effort

One another kink, which I have met in the matter of prophecying/proclaiming and a relevant teaching of the matter at hand is a selfguiding feeble attent to proclaim/prophecy judgment, , disaster and/or curses, when things don´t go my way. Once more, the Bible doesn´t support this kind of understanding of prophecies/proclamations. Even then a prophet proclaimed a judgment of Lord as a result of a diviation from Gods will he/she spoke a message given by Lord, not his/her own. The focus wasn´t a prophet but instead of that Lord and His will. Prophecies didn´t lock a person to the judgment proclaimed, but included a promise to theid message: When you repent, you will be saved. When you repent, the situation shall change. And, in some case, you have suffered enough, it is era of new.

In these verses written by Ezekiel we can find the promise of new (era). The new (era) which seems to be impossible (if we look the situation according to our own, human, understanding). Tomorrow we will be back and focus to the colourfull and vivid promise concluded by Lord to His people.

Toward new…

Lord is saying through this Word: Be ready, take you courage, be ready, look around, Lord is your Redeemer, Lord is your Saviour. He will do according to His Word in your life too.

It doesn´t matter what is in your past. It doesn´t matter, which kind of mess or defeat you have. It doesn´t matter who (how important or/and in
influential person) have refused you.

Your part is to lean on your Lord and let Him opportunity to lead you to your new.

I have to say… This is even a bit odd…

I have said I AM Finnish and I write in FINNISH. I haven´t any interests to go abroad. So then why to write in English? Besides of this my time is limited – and of course it is slower to write in the other language than ones mother tongue.

BUT situations have changed. I have foreign visitors in my blog regularly – so I have to do something to this.

Here it is this ”something” – my first writing in English.

Yesterday I told how I have hade strong thought in my mind in this spring: The old growth have to give space to the new growth. IT IS TIME. I described that also on my fb-page: There are new beginings in the era RIGHT NOW. It is time to GO ON. It is time to GO FORWARD. Lord is calling to something NEW.

An another thought/feeling which I have had is based on Isaiah 54:

Sing, O barren one, you who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child! For the [spiritual] children of the desolate one will be more than the children of the married wife, says the Lord.

Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; spare not; lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes,

For you will spread abroad to the right hand and to the left; and your offspring will possess the nations and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.

Fear not, for you shall not be ashamed; neither be confounded and depressed, for you shall not be put to shame. For you shall forget the shame of your youth, and you shall not [seriously] remember the reproach of your widowhood any more.

For your Maker is your Husband—the Lord of hosts is His name—and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; the God of the whole earth He is called.

For the Lord has called you like a woman forsaken, grieved in spirit, and heartsore—even a wife [wooed and won] in youth, when she is [later] refused and scorned, says your God.

For a brief moment I forsook you, but with great compassion and mercy I will gather you [to Me] again.

This is strong message from Lords heart to those ones who are feeling themselves forsaken, barren, hopeless, confused, etc.
